Colorado Chicken Run | April 3-11, 2027 | $8000

DEPOSIT & FEES: 

• The cost of the workshop is $8000 per person.
• A non-refundable 50% deposit is required to register.
• Your deposit fee will automatically calculate.
• This transaction is the 50% deposit only.
• What's included: lodging, blinds, chairs and field instruction.
• This workshop fee does not include air transportation from home to Denver, 4x4 vehicle rental, meals other than dinner the last night.
• Try to plan on arriving the day before the workshop begins to avoid weather or equipment delays.

Note: You will need a 4 X 4 vehicle to navigate the roads during this time of year. You will be required to make your own way to each hotel/town location.

BALANCE DUE:

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the workshop fee is required for registration. The remaining balance must be paid 60 days prior to the workshop. Registrants who have not paid their remaining balance or made other arrangements by that date forfeit their spot in the workshop which may be assigned to someone on the waiting list and also lose their deposit.

• The waiver agreement is electronic.
• A waiver will be emailed to you for electronic signature.
• Once you SUBMIT your waiver  agreement, a copy will be sent via email to both you and Alan Murphy Photography.

• 8 days, across 3 locations, photographing 4 species: Greater Prairie-Chicken, Lesser Prairie-Chicken*, Sharp-tailed Grouse, and Greater Sage-Grouse with the possibility of additional species.  
• March 22-24:  Denver, CO to Oakley, KS
• March 24-26:  Oakley, CO to Wray, CO
• March 26-30:  Wray, CO to Craig, CO
• We will spend mornings photographing each species.
• The afternoons are down-time, or you are free to explore the areas on your own.
• If I find a dependable subject to photograph in the evening, we will do that.

Weather: It’s possible that heavy rains or heavy snow build up can make access to certain leks impossible. Birds will display in rain and snow. They do not display in blizzards or very high winds. This is the reason why we are planning two days for each bird.

• 600 or 500mm lens.
• 1.4 TC. Tripod.
• If you have a zoom lens you can bring that into the blind as well.
• Sometimes the birds can get very close, but most of the action is 600 mm distance.
• A beanbag is good if you plan to drive around looking for subjects to shoot out of the car.

The species list is also listed on your itinerary which will be sent to you after your purchase of this workshop.
